Covid-19 Safety Precautions

Following a mandated shutdown due to the global pandemic, Modern Driver Institute re-opened June 5, 2020 and has been in continuous operation since.  Modern Driver remains committed to upholding the highest standards of public health and safety, and is following all CDC guidelines.

Our safety precautions include:

  • Instructor is fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of May 2021, and will immediately seek any future necessary booster shots.
  • All  students, regardless of vaccination status, should wear a mask throughout their session, unless wearing a mask interferes with their ability to drive safely.
  • the training vehicle remains stocked with sanitation materials – all students are encouraged to sanitize touch surfaces prior to beginning each session.
  • All touch surfaces in the training vehicle are regularly sanitized.
  • the instructor will take his temperature at the start of each business day, and will cancel all sessions if his temperature is above 100.4 degrees F.
  • students are asked to cancel their session at the beginning of any day in which they have a lesson scheduled if they are feeling sick or anyone in their immediate household has tested positive for Covid-19.
  • If your temperature is above 100.4 degrees F, please cancel the lesson as soon as possible.
  • weather-permitting, the front windows will be open to allow ventilation of fresh air during the session.  In inclement weather, the vents and fan will be used to accomplish the same.
  • Vaccinated parents may resume ride-alongs.
  • Full lesson debriefings will still happen at the end of sessions, but these will be conducted outside while observing social distancing norms so long as CDC guidelines recommend such practices.  Unvaccinated parents should wear masks during the debriefing.  If weather precludes meeting outdoors, the post-drive debriefing will be handled by phone.

These protocols are effective immediately, and will remain in effect so long as the CDC guidelines remain.  Thank you for your consideration.
