Back in July, 2014, I bought the first training car for Modern Driver Institute.  The car was a 2009 Kia Optima LX which, sadly, was never able to fulfill its purpose.

Fifteen minutes after I completed the purchase, the car was totaled by another driver who ran a stop sign.  The impact destroyed the front of the vehicle.   The total loss of the vehicle delayed the opening of the school for several months while I worked on getting reimbursed by his insurance company.  It also compelled me to go with my initial instincts and use only Volvo cars afterward.

Like the space shuttle Enterprise, which never actually flew into orbit, “Car 0” is considered a prototype which never ran a single student.
