Car 04 was a 2019 Dodge Charger Pursuit, originally owned and operated by a police department in North Carolina. It was a rear-wheel drive with a 5.7L HEMI V8 engine, producing 370 hp. It went into service in August 2025, and was retired in July 2026. Because of the PA Department of Education’s 70-year-old rule that driving schools cannot operate training cars beyond 8 years of age, I knew I’d only get a max of two years out of this car. But I had such a great experience using police cars so far, I wanted to continue, and the Charger is only police car still in production. While the car was a lot of fun to drive, it was terribly expensive on fuel and insurance, and by late spring 2026 the engine had started to go. The insane costs of operating a HEMI-powered car led me toward the much more economical Sentra for Car 05.
