Modern Driver Institute charges the following fees for its services. We try to keep prices as reasonable as possible. These prices are current as of January, 2025. The last price increase was 2020.

It’s important to us to keep prices as affordable as possible. If you shop around, you’ll find our two-hour behind-the-wheel training sessions are between $20 and $50 cheaper than most other driving schools in the area. That’s because we don’t have an office, and only have one car and one instructor to maintain.

It also means that, for less than the other schools, you get a guaranteed instructor who has more than 20 years professional experience in traffic safety, a graduate degree in Educational Psychology and experience as a precision driver for Hollywood films. And you get to drive an ex-Police car (our current training vehicle is a Ford Taurus Police Interceptor).

BEHIND-THE-WHEEL DRIVER TRAINING SESSIONS: $170.00

All behind-the-wheel driver training sessions are conducted one-on-one. You will not share your time with other students. Sessions are approximately two hours in length.

LEARNER’S PERMIT THEORY TRAINING: $60.00

Learner’s permit theory training is conducted remotely via Zoom. Student must have access to an internet-connected computer with camera and microphone. Training sessions are approximately one hour in length.

ADDITIONAL MILEAGE SERVICE FEE: $30.00

This fee is added for students who live outside the normal service range and cannot utilize any of our normal meetup locations. It covers additional mileage, tolls and instructor time to reach your destination.

PUBLIC OR PRIVATE SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS: Honorarium

Honorarium is typically a small “thank you” gift.
